We are delighted to formally welcome two West Northamptonshire councillors as liaison representatives to the Supporters Trust board.
They are Councillor Phil Bignell, who represents the Conservatives in Long Buckby, and Councillor Harry Barrett, the Labour member for Kingsthorpe South in Northampton.
Both councillors have been invited to the Trust's board meeting next Thursday (14 October). They will serve in a liaison role to the Supporters Trust for the next four years.
The appointments follow an open and constructive meeting that the Trust had with the council's leadership team at the beginning of September.
The Trust has significant reservations about the Sixfields land and East stand deal which Northampton Town FC owner David Bower is pursuing with West Northamptonshire Council.
From the information currently presented, it is by no means clear whether the deal under discussion is in the best long-term interests of the football club.
We look forward to maintaining a constructive dialogue with the appointed councillors on this, and other matters, in the months and years to come.
