THE Supporters Trust welcomes today’s news that Northampton Town FC will top up the salaries of club’s members of staff who have been furloughed because of the Covid-19 crisis.
Chairman Kelvin Thomas has stated that the club will use the Government’s job retention scheme to ease problems with cash flow but he added that the club would top up the final 20 per cent to ensure that all salaries are paid in full.
This is a fantastic gesture in these unprecedented times which have resulted in worry and uncertainty for all sections of the community.
The coronavirus outbreak will impact severely on clubs at all levels of football and there is precious little good news around at the moment.
So hats off to the club for doing the right thing by its employees in the face of tremendous adversity.
