Trust update: May 2021

16th May 2021

New Hotel End plans

The Trust has welcomed plans brought forward by the Standing at Sixfields group to explore the possibility of developing the North Stand at the stadium as safe standing terracing alongside a fans village showcasing local musicians and local producers.
The board has invited Tom Reed and Brendan Walsh, who are driving the project, to a special meeting on 27 May to discuss the financial plan for the project.

The project ticks many boxes – the option to choose safe standing, a concept which is attractive to younger supporters and which has the potential to increase revenue benefit for the club on a year-round basis while improving the fan experience at the stadium on a match day.

Questions on East Stand and wider land development

At the invitation of club chairman Kelvin Thomas, the board agreed and has sent to the club a set of questions requesting further detail around the plans for East Stand and wider land development which are being taken forward with the new unitary authority West Northamptonshire Council.
The development, and the club’s relegation, was fully discussed at the meeting and members agreed the need for fans to be presented with the owners’ plans for the club both on and off the field.

Improvements to Trust’s communications and membership systems

Board members also agreed to a review of the Trust’s communications and membership platforms with the aim of updating and improving them and making them more user friendly.

Introductory meeting with West Northamptonshire Council

The Trust is to seek an introductory meeting with West Northamptonshire Council leader Councillor Jonathan Nunn and chief executive Anna Earnshaw to establish the updated status of the Asset of Community Value it holds on the stadium, the stadium’s West Stand car park and the old athletics track behind the East Stand.

Meetings with Supporters Trusts

The Trust board has held fact-finding meetings on Zoom with Supporters Trusts at Swindon Town and Torquay United and has other meetings planned with Accrington Stanley and Blackpool.
