Trust update: December 2021

16th Dec 2021

Welcome to Ian Atkins!

As you may have seen yesterday, the Trust invited former Cobblers manager Ian Atkins to join the board as a co-opted member and we are delighted to say that he accepted the invitation. Ian’s position is set to be ratified at next month’s Annual General Meeting. A warm welcome to Ian, we look forward to working with him, and benefiting from his extensive knowledge of the game, in what promises to be an interesting year ahead for football in general.

Sixfields stand and land deal

A West Northamptonshire Council special meeting to discuss the proposed Sixfields stand and land deal, due to be held this month, will almost certainly now take place in the New Year. The Trust supported the call for a special meeting and understands the postponement is down to the council seeking further information around the independent valuation of land at Sixfields detailed in a report from Lambert Smith Hampton. We will keep you updated about a new meeting date and any other developments.

Meeting with NTFC chairman Kelvin Thomas and directors James Whiting and Tom Cliffe

Board representatives attended a meeting at Sixfields on 18 November and considered it a useful exercise following a full and frank exchange of views about the Sixfields stand and land deal as proposed by owner David Bower and chairman Kelvin Thomas.

Annual general meeting date confirmed

The Trust’s annual general meeting will take place via Zoom on the evening of Thursday 27 January. A number of board positions remain vacant, as does the position of Board Secretary, so if you are a Trust member and are interested in any of these positions please email ntfctrust1992@gmail.com In any event, all application details will be included in the mailing which will be sent to all members after Christmas. The position of secretary is a non-director position.

Tracey Crouch full report into football reform

The Trust, with a few reservations, has adopted the Crouch report into football reform. We will be writing to our local MPs to request that they push for the report to be included in the Queen’s Speech and we would urge all football fans with an interest in football reform to do likewise.
