East Stand development
Following receipt of the Freedom of Information request into the east stand and wider Sixfields land development deal in progress, the Trust publicised its findings and attended a meeting with Northampton Borough Council leader Jonathan Nunn and chief executive George Candler.
The Trust was then in receipt of an open letter from club chairman Kelvin Thomas who requested a Zoom meeting by way of finding common ground around five points which we said we would find acceptable.
We responded in kind with an open letter, effectively stating that two of the five points would require further context and discussion.
The Trust board hopes to meet club officials during the first week in September to take these discussions forward in a constructive manner.
Changes to the Trust board
Long-serving Trust board members Roger Averill and treasurer Trina Smith are stepping down from the board.
Roger, formerly Trust chairman, will continue to run the Cobblers Travel buses (as and when we can travel to away games!) and will also continue to promote the Club 500 scheme and the annual Prediction Quiz.
Re-joining the board is Bob Souster, a chartered banker who can draw on vast experience from the world of finance.
Charities to benefit from Dave Bowen book sales
Following a Trust donation to Ethan Grande to help him publish and promote his book about club legend Dave Bowen, Ethan has kindly agreed to make £500 donations to both Cynthia Spencer hospice in Northampton and also the Alzheimer’s Society on the back of sales of the book.
If you are interested in buying a copy of the book, please contact Ethan by email firstname.lastname@example.org
Sponsorship of Northampton Town Women’s FC
We are very much looking forward to cheering on the Cobblers Women’s team during the 2020/21 season.
As we did last season, the Trust is sponsoring the Women’s away travel and training tops.
The £3,000 donation is coming from the Cobblers Travel and Club 500 funds.
