Trust update - May 2024

27th May 2024

Sixfields stadium infrastructure survey has closed

·         The Sixfields infrastructure survey, which initially went out to Trust members and then to all Cobblers fans, has closed.

A total of 519 Cobblers fans took part in the survey, of which 222 were Trust members. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to take part.

We will publish the outcome next month, as well as drawing out some of the points raised by Trust members.

With regard to what we would like to see built on the club land behind the East Stand, 67 per cent of Trust members opted for a development which would benefit both club and community. 18 per cent chose the retail and car parking option.

When looking at the responses from all Cobblers fans, these figures switched to 54 per cent and 21 per cent respectively.

The current expectation is that a warehouse will be built across the old athletics track land at Sixfields.

This option did not find favour, attracting only 9 per cent support from Trust members and 15 per cent from Cobblers fans more widely.

Sixfields stand and land deal

·         The board has concerns as to how the land sale and the East Stand development will affect car parking capacity on the stadium footprint, in the expectation that the North Stand car park will eventually be lost.

We hope the club can confirm how many new car parking spaces will go behind the completed East Stand.

Supporters Trust liaison on Football Governance Bill

·         The Trust is liaising with other Supporters Trusts across the country to discuss the proposed Football Governance Bill and how Supporters Trusts would link in with the work of the Independent Football Regulator.

This is with a view to lobbying local, committee and football-loving MPs prior to the third reading of the Bill and its transit into legislation, which has now been delayed by the General Election on 4 July.
