Trust update - July 2024

29th Jul 2024

Sixfields stadium infrastructure survey results published

·         The results of the Sixfields infrastructure survey have been published. A summary report has been compiled for ratification by board members at the August board meeting and it will then be published on the Trust’s website and circulated to Trust members.

Sixfields stand and land deal

·         As a club shareholder, the Supporters Trust attended yesterday’s NTFC AGM at Sixfields and asked questions about the stand and land deal. As follows:-

- New director Nigel Le Quesne has loaned money to increase the player budget

- The new ground capacity will be 8,203 and there will be 100 additional car parking spaces (33 of which are disabled bays) provided behind the East Stand

- There is currently no firm plan on the table for developing the NTFC land which runs from behind the East Stand to the eastern edge of the old athletics track

- The club is likely to have £16 million projected debt to accommodate the purchase of the land and completion of the stand. We hope that future land/plot sales will at the very least ensure the club becomes debt free.

- A fans village has been considered as part of wider redevelopment of the West Stand car park

Supporters Trust liaison on Football Governance Bill

·         Now the outcome of the General Election is known, the Trust will be lobbying the new MPs representing Northamptonshire to ensure they push for the delivery of the Football Governance Bill.

We have also been liaising with other Supporters Trusts across the country to seek to ensure that the bill provides for a meaningful relationship between Supporters Trusts, football club owners and the to be appointed Independent Football Regulator. This builds on the sterling work already carried out by the Football Supporters Association and Fair Game in the field of fan engagement.
