NEWS FROM THE SUPPORTERS TRUST…

A fantastic promotion season

·         First and foremost, huge congratulations to Jon Brady, his staff and the players for a fantastic promotion season. To bounce back from the disappointment of the final day last season against a long list of injuries has been absolutely brilliant. Hopefully we can go on to consolidate and build in League One next season.

Judicial Review decision is imminent and meeting with Kelvin Thomas

The Trust will meet to finalise its position regarding the proposed sale and development of the old athletics track land at Sixfields once the outcome of the Judicial Review is known. At this point we will also seek a meeting with club chairman Kelvin Thomas as a follow up to the meeting held with Trust chair Andy Roberts and Ashley Brown of the Football Supporters’ Association in December.

Board resignation

·         Tom Packer, who took up a board position at the Trust’s Annual General Meeting in February, resigned as a board and Trust member on 29 March.

Campaign on gamesmanship

·         The board released a statement condemning the prevalent gamesmanship in football and the inability of the football authorities to call it out and stand up for fair play. This followed the incident which saw Aaron McGowan dismissed in the home match with Crawley Town.

The Trust will be working with the Football Supporters Association on a campaign in the next few weeks and the statement has also been sent to Northamptonshire Football Association, copied in to the Professional Footballers’ Association.

Ian Clarkson signed print

·         On Saturday, 13 May, it will be 25 years since that famous night at Sixfields which saw the Cobblers turn over a memorable tie against Bristol Rovers to win a place at Wembley in a play-off final for the second year running. Defender Ian Clarkson was the scorer of the Cobblers second goal that night and his goal has been brilliantly captured in a stadium art print by renowned artist Paul Town.

Prints are still available, why not snap up a wonderful souvenir of a great Cobblers occasion. All prints are signed by the goal scorer, then Cobblers boss Ian Atkins and the artist and are available for £20 (£18 to Trust members) from ntfctrust1992@gmail.com – there is £5 added for postage and packaging.
