Trust news update: March 2019

6th Mar 2019

* Community Ownership public meeting - Sunday 10 March

We are hosting a public meeting this Sunday to discuss community ownership in football and to explore a potential future model for Northampton Town FC.

We will also be presenting our vision for a viable, sustainable football club, rooted in a strong Northampton sporting community.

Panellists include Nick Hawker (chairman of Exeter City Supporters Trust), Ashley Brown (Supporters Direct/Portsmouth) and Don Woodward (former chairman of Wycombe Wanderers).

They will be joined by Northampton Town Supporters Trust chairman Andy Roberts and board member Kevin Simons.

The meeting runs from 1-4pm at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Silver Street in Northampton town centre.

Following the welcome and a presentation of our vision, there will be three short presentations from our guests and then a drinks break which will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session.

Please come along and join in the discussion!

* Asset Of Community Value for Sixfields (ACV)

As you may have read, the Trust has been successful in securing an ACV which covers not just Sixfields stadium and the west stand car park but also the former athletics track land behind the stadium's east stand.

This follows many representations to Northampton Borough Council who have now agreed for these areas to be listed.

We would like to thank both the Conservative administration and the Labour opposition on NBC for their support in this matter.

The Trust will make another representation at the full council meeting on 11 March to urge further consideration of a sports development plan for the Sixfields area of Northampton.

* Communication

The Trust is committed to improving its communication to the membership and the wider fan base.

First and foremost, to meet GDPR requirements, we need the permission of individual Trust members to use their email address for correspondence purposes.

If you have not already done so, could you email us at ntfc_trust@outlook.com to do so.

We are also issuing monthly updates, like this one, on our website and social media platforms.

Our board meetings will soon be publicised in advance - any member wishing to attend a board meeting should apply in writing via email.

And we are looking to hold two forums a year for Trust members in addition to the annual AGM, at which the membership can ask questions of the board.

We are also hoping  to host an open forum with Cobblers boss Keith Curle, but are waiting for the club to suggest a convenient date.
