Stadium matchday car parking plan questions remain unanswered

20th Aug 2025

Our letter to the club on 15 July, containing a number of questions about the proposed land development and future stadium matchday car parking plans, remains unanswered.

We believe that our members, and Cobblers supporters generally, have the right to receive detailed responses to these questions.

In particular in relation to the stadium matchday car parking plan when the north surface car park closes at the end of this season.

We anticipate this will result in the net loss of around 300 matchday car parking spaces for the 2026/27 season at a time when the club is facing pressure from Upton residents concerned about fans parking inconsiderately on the housing estate.

We are concerned that the loss of these spaces will result in many supporters no longer coming to home games if they cannot park close to the stadium as at present.

In a community impact statement to West Northamptonshire Council, the club references fans being required to make greater use of the large Claret car park on Edgar Mobbs Way.

But older supporters who struggle with their mobility will not want to park in this car park which is some distance from the stadium.

Will there be a drop off facility at the stadium for older and less mobile fans?

Will a parking and traffic management plan be required every time the Cobblers and Saints play at home on the same afternoon?

Will the new warehouses be in a position to offer football supporters a parking arrangement on matchdays?

Has the club explored a sustainability plan which improves matchday public transport options to and from the stadium?

We would respectfully ask the club to update supporters about next season’s stadium matchday car parking plan at the earliest opportunity.
