Latest statement following HMRC winding up order

15th Oct 2015

Yesterday was a tough day for all Cobblers fans to comprehend. The news that HMRC had issued a winding up order against the football club was just the latest in a series of unfortunate events for long suffering supporters.

The Trust board and other Trust members met on Thursday evening, as this was the deadline for the football club to pay back the £10.25million they had withdrawn from the council’s loan.

We met not only to review the latest developments, but also to consider the implications, how various scenarios might pan out, the options available for the Trust, and how we might achieve the best outcome for the club, the fans, and all its various stakeholders.

This evening we met with the chief executive of Northampton Borough Council, David Kennedy, and council leader Mary Markham.

We asked many questions, and we will update fans as soon as we can following another board meeting that will be held this weekend.

Please don't underestimate the work going on behind the scenes and the amount of hours being volunteered.

We would like to thank all our board members and other volunteers for their time and dedication to the cause.
