Board update - June 2026

26th Jun 2026

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT SEASON…

The Trust will be keeping an eye out on the club’s Annual General Meeting, due to be held shortly, to see if it holds any clues as to the likely prospects of the team in League 2 next season. Like all Cobblers fans, we were shocked and bemused by the team’s freefall in this calendar year to date, prompted by a heavy defeat at Burton Albion on Boxing Day with the side picking up only eight points from their last 24 league matches, losing the last 11.

We urgently require updates around a forward plan for the club – how the sale of the development land will benefit the club going forward, what the new investment interest in the club amounts to and how that translates into a budget for improving the playing staff.

FORMER PLAYERS’ ASSOCIATION (FPA)

We are delighted to hear that the club has endorsed a Former Players’ Association for Northampton Town Football Club. It is long overdue and a big well done to Andy Trasler, Mr Cobblers Collectibles, for getting this off the ground. The Trust has long been at the forefront of organising former player reunions – the final 1960s reunion in April 2016, a 1970s reunion in October 2022 and a reunion of Bill Dodgin’s 1976 promotion winners in April this year. We haven’t been able to get this in front of the club as they refuse to engage with us but we will look to support this venture in any way we can.

£500 TRUST DONATION FOR LARRY

The Supporters Trust has made a £500 donation on behalf of its members to the crowdfunding page set up by Shane Duff for Neil ‘Larry’ Grayson who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and Motor Neurone Disease. Larry gave Cobblers fans many precious memories during this three seasons with the club (1994-97), a whole-hearted footballer who loved the game. And the game loved him.

TRUST WILL BE FOUNDER MEMBERS OF NEW SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIIVE

Northampton Town Supporters Trust, the original Supporters Trust, will be founder members of a new Trusts co-operative network which was given the green light following a meeting of Supporters Trusts held in Northampton at the end of May. Further information to follow shortly.

WORLD CUP CONNECTIONS

How many Northampton football connections have you spotted at the World Cup? Ivan Toney of course in the England squad; Academy product Chukwuemeka playing for Austria? And Abington Vale’s Darren Bazeley, who scored an FA Cup winner against his home town club for Watford in 1996, managing New Zealand! Any more?
