Further to our announcement about discussions with NTFC over season tickets and to NTFC’s announcement over timings, NTFC Supporters Limited went back to NTFC to ask for an extension of the discount deadline to the 1st of May.
The reason for this approach was not only to allow supporters who are paid at month end more time to pay, but also because we had genuine concerns about the take up of season tickets due to a number of factors including falling attendances generally in football, and the costs of supporting a football team.
This initial approach was rejected. NTFC Supporters Limited then offered to pay a four figure sum to cover the interest costs associated with putting the discount deadline back to May 1st.
This was also rejected by NTFC, NTFC stated it was not about the interest, but about large overheads that are due around the 22nd April. It should also be noted that the Cardoza’s are putting into NTFC over £1million throughout the year.
We were disappointed the deadline was not extended however we will be discussing with NTFC the season ticket and match day prices for next season, to be announced later this year.
We would also support NTFC in ensuring the club’s finances are managed prudently in the next few years to allow for better deals for our loyal supporters.
In the meantime we will keep liaising with NTFC to look at cost effective schemes to benefit season ticket holders.
