CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
This year has seen changes of personnel for NTFC Supporters Limited with Dave Linnell stepping down as Chairman and Tony Clarke as Supporters’ Representative. I would like to take the opportunity again to thank Dave and Tony for the work they have performed in their respective roles.
Dave has remained on our Board and has been supportive toward me and continues to chair the Open Forums. Tony has taken on the role of General Manager and Executive Director of NTFC, I wish him every success in this role and as I write these notes I am already beginning to see the benefits to NTFC and NTFC Supporters Limited of having Tony working for NTFC.
I did not expect to be making a report to the membership both as Chairman and Supporters’ Representative. I take great pride in the work I undertake for NTFC Supporters Limited and representing the fan base of Northampton Town.
Lately we have been working very hard due to the lack of progress with the Stadium re-developments with organising the statement of support and other work surrounding the developments, we are very grateful to the 2000 supporters who signed the statement of support, let’s hope it has some effect on the council to throw more resources at the proposals put forward.
We have also recently started working on a Business plan for NTFC Supporters Limited to look at our aims / direction, continuity, cash flow and tasks / roles required by elected board members. We need to work hard on this in 2005-06.
We have formed two working groups to look at increasing membership and arranging affordable social events for supporters.
The membership working group will be working hard from the AGM onwards in surveying supporters about NTFC Supporters Limited and being active in recruiting new members. We will also be writing to all lapsed members to try and entice them back. We have always hovered around the 500-600 mark with memberships, but I don’t see any reason why we should not aim for 1000 members.
It has given me great pleasure that the ‘Social’ working group has been so successful in organising an end of season party for supporters and a quiz night; this will continue and grow in the following year with a race night, auction night and end of season supporters’ party planned for the remainder of this season.
I am also encouraged by the new supporters who have come forward to our board recently; this hopefully shows that we are open and approachable. I feel we are building a strong team to move NTFC Supporters Limited forward. We can never have enough help and if you think you have something to offer, please come forward and join the team.
Please encourage your fellow supporters to join and help the Supporters Trust movement to grow. Rest assured we will be working very hard on your behalf; I am excited by the future for NTFC Supporters Limited.
Keep believing!
Anthony Collett
